Will you join us tomorrow?
The Slow Burn is coming and we have a bonkers virtual event to celebrate
💌 The Slow Burn is out tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the day—The Slow Burn is coming! Currently it’s a snow day here in New York, and the world continues to be as confusing as ever, but at least that’s one bright spot to focus on (as well as many, many other happy books). And yet… I’d like to believe that that makes happy books even more important. So with that in mind, I’m going to shout from the rooftops about my Italian pasta-filled romp.
I really hope you will join us for our virtual romance pajama party. It’s going to be pure fun on a cold Tuesday—with games and a whole lot of romance silliness delight. It also supports an indie bookstore AND you get the incredible special dust jacket (gorgeous art below). So what are you waiting for? Join in!
And of course, if you’re in NYC/Baltimore/LA/Charlotte/Charleston, I hope I’ll see you in person! Here’s a final rundown of where you can catch me:
New York City at The Strand with Smitten Kitchen, Broma Bakery and Ayesha Nurdjaja | Baltimore with Ali Hazelwood | Los Angeles with Caro Chambers | Charlotte with Tarah DeWitt | Charleston with Ashley Poston
📚 Book Recommendations
Now, I might be a little consumed by The Slow Burn coming out, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have happy book recs! (After all, when is better to read and cook than when you’re waiting!?).
The Best Worst Thing might be the best book if you need all the feels—I can’t remember a book that made me laugh and cry so much. And if you need something a little sweeter, The Heartbreak Hotel was lovely and tender. For cooking, Natasha Pickowicz is meeting the cold moment with Everyone Hot Pot. My daughters are hot pot obsessed and I’m so happy to have a cookbook where we can make it at home!
💛 Happy News
Man, do we need happy news this week. If you want a pure serotonin boost for fifteen minutes, this interview with Martin Short on Jimmy Kimmel Live might be among the funniest things I’ve ever watched. Zinger after zinger, all still somehow with a smile. It’s about nothing and yet everything we need in this moment.
Also, fellow New Yorkers, the New York Public Library sees us and has made all of the books Heated Rivalry is based on instantly available on e-book and audiobook. Just another reminder that libraries are amazing.
✨ Thanks for being here!
I’m so excited for The Slow Burn to be out for a lot of reasons, but one of the main ones is that I can stop being a nag in this newsletter and get back to what I love—shouting about other people’s books! So thanks for letting me shout a bit and can’t wait to hopefully see you all virtually or in person very soon. xoxoxo Ali

Just watched the Martin Short clip - thanks for the tip and the laughs - much needed!
Can't wait to see you in Baltimore Thursday! Hope we are thawed out by then!
